Disability Assessment and Evaluation Services

Through the Response to Intervention (RtI) model, children who struggle in public schools are first brought to the attention of their district level intervention Teams (i.e. STAT, IMAP, etc.) by their teacher(s) or parents(s). After planned and documented intervention over time, the district-level Team determines whether a special education referral should be made. This individual and full evaluation will determine if the disability impacts the child's ability to be successful in school and meets one of the 13 state disability criteria. This evaluation process begins with review of the student performance data and intervention effectiveness. A plan for evaluation is developed, the parent gives written consent for evaluation, and an individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting is then arranged to discuss evaluation results and any programming needs.
